bounces
Bounce, I’ve noticed has gone through a few changes through the years.  I don’t know why I’ve even noticed, I don’t even buy it but it’s always been one of the most familiar fabric softening products on the shelves.

The box on the top is from a 1977 add I think it does a great job at being attention-grabbing with vibrant colors surrounding thick white letters.  I love the font too, it’s round like something that should bounce and the multi-colored outlines of the word give it a little bouncy effect too.  I feel like it should even just take over the whole box and out the “A remarkable fabric softener that works in the dryer!” somewhere maybe under the “e”.  But I guess in 1977 this was really exciting news and it needed it’s own portion of the label.

The new box is also attention-grabbing with the bright orange package.  There’s a kind of spyglass view of some laundry hanging on a line in a field and some sort of dotted pattern that may be a 3D visual of a ball…maybe?
The title text is okay but it bothers me how the “u” and the “n” are merged and look more like a sideways “s”.  In general this is a recognizable package but I think the old one is cuter.

Bounce: Old or New?

I think I’m at 100% for preferring the old ones. Now I can’t even tell if I’m being objective or nostalgic!

LOL! True that! I thought Bounce still went by that packaging, because I’m pretty sure it still looks like that here in Britain. I’m gonna have to make a point of double checking next time I’m in the supermarket. (Too bad I didn’t look at this entry before I went shopping earlier tonight!)

Could that dotted pattern on the new box be the inside of a dryer?

Just discovered your site and can’t even explain how much I’m enjoying it. I love the changes over the years in logos and packaging too, and I’m having a blast with this. Thanks!

haha, i have a mixed opinions about this logo. i like it beacuse i’m partial to retro eighties shit and this logo makes me want to slap a slapband on my wrist and whip out my atari. but on the other hand, i don’t think it strongly exemplifies the olympics and i fail to see how it cost a3400,000. that’s almost one million in aussie dollars. i wish someone would pay me that much money to create something in mspaint!
